Hau’oli La Ho’omakika’i from Hawaii! Today is officially the first holiday away from home. Kind of sad that we don't get a home cooked traditional thanksgiving meal, but Kendra and I sure made the best of it! Today was freezing. Naturally we decided to hike up a muddy trail...with a pumpkin haupia Ted's pie in hand. Kendra carried it (cause I would've for sure dropped it) up to the sunset beach pillboxes. We sat looking over the ocean eating our pie. Then we went into the pillbox, set up our hammock and ate some more pie there. We had to be back for a thanksgiving meal with friends so we headed down the mountain, but it was a lot more muddy than when we started. We were slipping and sliding all over the trail. Kendra unfortunately dropped our pie 3.14159265 times in the mud... so the pie is no more. Other than that, good thanksgiving for sure. Thankful for this little island and all the lessons I've learned here. Thankful for good roomies to spend holidays with too. Miss home and family but so so thankful to be going home in less than a month! Peace (out), love and aloha.

pipeline pros
Since no school for a week, duh we have to go to the beach. Cami, Kenny & I hit up the beaches on North Shore at pipeline. It was literally THE perfect beach day and boy would I be lying if I didn't say I've never seen the water so clear and blue. This is exactly how I pictured all of hawaii. Wow I fall in love with it more and more everyday (literally falling for hawaii lol) Cami & I dropped our stuff on the beach and ran down into the waves. There were people surfing all around us and the waves were so big we had to duck dive under them. IT WAS SO FUN. But on the way swimming back in, we got caught in the crash zone and tried to duck under them but it was too late and got thrown around like crazy for a good five minutes until the swell passed. Still worth it tho. Got a lotta sun, shells and sand thats for sure. Pipeline is definitely a new fav. If you ever come to oahu, it's a must. Anyways, till next time. As cami and I always say: Catch ya on the flip side niggaaas.

sundays in la-ee-ay
Made it through one semester of college yeeeeet. the laie temple is only a 5 minute walk from our church building AKA perfect for fast sunday while waiting for the caf to open. Kenny (Kendra) and I grabbed a camera and Ali's clothes for the typical temple photoshoot. It was a perfect day and the temple was prettier than ever. (also can't stop loling bc these look like mission pics) Wow I love hawaii.

hawaiian hall-o-ween
Happy Halloween from groovy Kendra and savage Micaela here in Hawaii! Ha Halloween dance was lit on Friday night and me and Kendra went all out crazy. But saturday was real Halloween. Kendra and I went down with Branden and his two visiting friends to Waikiki. Kendra was a tourist and I was a rapper. We walked the strip and ate at California pizza kitchen. As the night got later, everything got weirder. It was like an elementary halloween parade except adult style with all the weird people in crazy costumes passing you. There was SO many people. Like no room on the sidewalks at all! Everyone gathered around the Duke statue to smoke it out hahaha. Not gonna lie it was pretty scary. Some fights even went down when we were heading back to the car.

livin on the edge
Okay so the answer is "no I don't ever go to school". Why go to school when you can hike up mountains and go to the beach? Exactly. Haha today Heidi and Sadie and I hiked Crouching Lion, but went farther to the ridges above it. We were SO high up it was breathtaking ( actually breathtaking because of how windy it was, but still). We were literally walking along the top of the mountain, it was insane. Definitely different than Utah mountains. Every peak we passed all we could say was "We live here?!" Hawaii never fails to disappoint, thats for sure. I would hike this mountain every day if I could. It makes me wish all you guys from back home could be here to hike it with me.
Anyways. Partway through the hike, I pulled my phone out of my fanny pack, but my debit card flew out with it, the wind caught it and it fell down the mountain side. I slid down trying to get to it, but Sadie came in clutch and helped me find it before I almost died haha. After hiking to the peak and falling and sliding our way back down the mountain, we hitchiked a ride back to North Shore Tacos, a restaurant like Cafe Rio, but trust me Cafe Rio is 10000x better. We ate there and headed back to campus. It's days like these that make me fall in love with hawaii all over again. <3

life, change & everything that comes with it
I always thought that living in Hawaii, I woudn't want anything more (like hello I'm living in paradise!). But. . . I couldn't be more wrong. Its funny the things you take for granted. . . where you live, who you spend your time with, food you eat, etc etc. I miss things I've never even thought I would. I miss Mcdonalds and my mom's home made meals. I miss driving and walmart being 2 minutes away. We always want change, but we don't know what we're wishing for. I miss my saratoga life more than I can explain. All I want is familiar faces and familiar places. I wanna go to high school football games and see EVERYONE from school around town. I wanna spend all day driving around with friends. I could go on and on, but what I'm trying to say is don't focus so much on the life you wish you had, but focus more on the life you're living. You'll find that your life is perfect just the way it is. I wish it didn't take an ocean and a 3,000 mile distance for me to realize that. Don't get me wrong, hawaii is a dream, but the only thing I want is to be with my best friends and family. Of course I'm making new friends and family here, but I know it'll never be the same. It's hard to settle in and find people who do things the same way and like the same things you do.
Just a word of advice to all you kids still at home and in high school: Life life to its fullest. Party harder than ever and hug your friends more than you need to. Do things outside your comfort zone, break rules and make memories. Cause one day you'll wake up and life will be completely different, everyone leaves and you'll have to start over, make new friends in a new place. (Believe me it's a lot harder than it looks) Make the most of everyday and enjoy every moment of life. Live without any regrets. My good friend mr. maurice taught me to only do what makes you happy (s/o westlake fam). TRUTH.
That is all kids.

happy hitch hikers
Woah. Today was fantab. Olivia and Taylor and I hitch hiked a ride down to the crouching lion hike. It was almost straight up and my calves will def be feelin it tomorrow. It was hot and sweaty af but the view was worth it! It felt like we were in jurassic park haha. After the hike we found this rope swing right over the ocean and honestly it was my favorite thing ever. Is it possible to fall in love with a place? Cause I think I'm falling for YOU Hawaii <3

friends + a car + hawaii
I think they call it "dead man's catwalk" because even before you get to the edge, your breath is gone. I just "died" over the view (hahaha get it?) Anyway, I couldn't believe it was real life.

S/O Alec for driving 2 hours to the other side of the island. There really is nothing better than riding in a real car and jamming out with friends. The hike was basically a steep walk straight up a mountain. At least them calves got a good workout, am I right? (: I could stay up there forever. Everything is so tiny, it's like watching ants crawl down a highway. Oh my gosh, it was so clear you could see Molokai. You feel so small looking on the horizon & there isn't another continent within 2,500 miles. If that doesn't make you feel isolated I don't know what will.
ps I also made friends with this cute chameleon on the way down when I almost stepped on him. I almost took him with me so I could give him to my 8-year-old bro Brennon (he LOVES chameleons) . . . buuttttt Hawaii is his home so I left him there.
also, mcdonalds on the way home was bomb. a little taste of home :' )
